On Latter Day Christians

They worship a man, whose lifestyle and philosophy they don’t follow (“Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”) (“No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”), and who they wouldn’t comfortable sitting next to on a bus:

Then what is the appeal of Jesus of Nazareth, someone whose character and philosophy were so opposite to the character and philosophy of the always bigoted, generally racist, generally right-wing, Christian? Aside from simple cultural conservatism -I was raised in a community and in a family that espouse certain ideas and I’m not an independent thinker- mainly the idea that he can make their lives easier, make them materially successful in this life, and save them from eternal damnation in the next – their own self-interest. They’ve completely missed the point of his message, and they’re in for a shock.
